The student council forms an integral part of the school. There are many reasons for a student council to exist:

• The council brings out the leadership qualities of the students.
• The students learn to accept responsibility
• The students learn to delegate powers among themselves

The student council mainly comprises the school Head Girl and Head Boy from class X. Subsequently these are followed by the school prefects (Girl and Boy) from class XII. Each house has captains, vice captains (Girl and Boy) and a cultural secretary. Also there is a SEEK editor-in-chief.

The newly elected members take over the responsibilities from outgoing leaders after their badges are pinned and oath is taken.

Of course, the prelude to the installation ceremony is the campaigning that takes place before elections. Nominated students put up well-thought out and attractive posters in the corridor.Elections are held and the democratic way of voting takes place where students vote for their leaders and elect them.

Voting is done online by the students.This system of online voting in schools in India was first introduced at Sri Kumarans.
