DURING SCHOOL HOURS

Sports play a vital role in moulding a student’s life. It shapes the students physically and mentally. It has been proven that a student excelling in sports will also shine in his academic career. It also instils moral values like self confidence, punctuality, discipline, responsibility, accountability and sacrifice. If a student plays sports form an early age it strengthens one’s muscles, bones and makes one physically and mentally fit.

Sri Kumaran Public School in partnership with Edusports has a special sports curriculum for classes I to IV. The programme is designed to offer the same rigour in sports and physical education as in academics. The Edu Sports programme is implemented through the SOAR™ platform- India's first integrated school sports and physical education platform. The EduSports SOAR™ platform has different modules specifically designed to address the critical needs of children for a 360 degree high quality learning experience.

Swimming is introduced as a compulsory weekly activity in Class III and continued for children in Class IV and V. The school has incorporated swimming as an activity during school hours and trained school coaches train children in various aspects of swimming and its strokes.

The students of classes V to X are trained in the following sports activities during the school hours and for school team members, after school hours.

  • Volleyball – Primary boys and girls and High school boys and girls
  • Basketball – Primary boys and girls and High school boys and girls
  • Throwball – Primary girls and High school girls
  • Football - Primary and High School boys
  • Indoor sports like chess, carrom board and table tennis are also played regularly by all students.
