These contests are conducted by the Association of Mathematics Teachers of India (The AMTI), Chennai.
These tests are conducted to discover and encourage students who have the capacity for original and critical thinking, boldness in attacking unfamiliar and non-routine problems exhibiting a general Mathematical maturity appropriate to their level.
The tests are conducted in two levels. At the first level, classes V and VI are eligible to take up the 'Gauss Primary Grade), Classes VII and VIII are eligible to take up the 'Kaprekar Contest' (Sub Junior Grade), and Classes IX and X are eligible to take up the ‘Bhaskara Contest’ (Junior Grade).
