Dr. Naveen Thimmaiah (Batch of 1988) is a practising doctor and a professor of oncology at the Kidwai Memorial Institute, Bangalore. Born to pharmacist parents, he was exposed to human illness from early on. He is now involved in several path-breaking initiatives such as a multi-institutional effort to demonstrate the use of Nimotuzumab (h-R3), implant indigenous radiation seeds in older men with prostate cancer, outreach camps for rural women for early detection of cervical and breast cancer. He believes that Cancer is a dark place but that there is a Can in cancer.
